Culture Convoy and Nguras Kong (Enceh) Ceremony

The rite ceremony, which is done at Imogiri cemetery complex, is a tradition in replacing water, which is in ‘kong’ (jar) at Imogiri kings cemetery. Then, the old water is given to the people who have belief that the water can give goodness in their life.

The ceremony, which is held every Tuesday of Kliwon on month of Suro, is started with placing water, which is in four padasan (holy water tanks). Those padasans are Kyai Mendung (came from Rome), Nyai Siem (came from Myanmar), Kyai Danumoyo (came from Aceh) and Nyai Danumurti (came from Palembang). It is then followed by Cultural Convoy. In this convoy, placing water equipment, siwur (dipper made of coconut shell) is brought from Imogiri sub district to kings’ cemetery complex. This ritual activity is closed with traditional arts stage.
