People of Sembungan sub village, Bangunjiwo, Kasihan often get training of ceramic craft. Suwondo S.Pd is one of active people who always follow the training. From 20 persons who follow the training, he is regarded the most success person. That gives great motivation for him to start his business in ceramic craft field. Besides active following the training in his village, he also ever followed some training, which were held by the Department of Economic, Trade and Cooperation of Bantul Regency and PPG of Art of Yogyakarta. In 2000, with capital got from soft loan from the Regional National Craft Board of Bantul, he started to run his ceramic craft business and named it “Cuwo Ceramic”. It is address at Sembungan sub village, Bangunjiwo, Kasihan. In 2004, Cuwo Ceramic opened showroom at the Art Market of Gabusan Lots 14 Kaveling (space between lots) 1.


The beauty of house is not influenced by its architecture only, but it is also influenced by its interior design. It looks like Suwondo’s products which its price ranges from Rp 40.000,- to Rp. 450.000,- You will get various house decoration craft types, such as lampshade, flower vas, terracotta, glass table with dragon motif and so on.

Helped by 2 permanent and 4 daily workers, Suwondo is able to produce 500 pieces item each month with various craft products. In a month, the income for ceramic craft selling with the material of clay from Kasongan and Pacitan reaches Rp 1 to Rp 5 millions.

To market his products, Suwondo has had colleague at Kaliurang Street. Though his products do not enter foreign market, he has supplied many big cities in Indonesia, such as Kalimantan, Surabaya, Pekalongan, Bojonegoro and Yogyakarta.
