You can find every craft products at the Art Market of Gabusan on Parangtritis Street. Riyadi, a leather craft maker who born on October 14th, 1973 at Pucung, Karangasem, Imogiri, Bantul, bet his destiny by opening showroom at the Art Market of Gabusan Lots III Kav. 27. Riyadi learnt to paint leather puppet from elementary school. Because it did not give anything, Riyadi started thinking to make other craft product made of leather. Then, Riyadi tried to make craft products, such as party souvenir, Lebaran card and key ring.


In 1993, he sharpened his talent by making leather-painting craft. Riyadi, who ever studied in an Academy at Tourism major, also watched craft development. Then, he tried to open showroom in Jakarta. In Jakarta, his products started to be known, but he got bad incident because his showroom was in government’s project that might be moved. He decided to come home in his village and tried to develop it there.


With his determination, he was not despaired. With his knowledge, he tried to develop various leather-craft products in 1998. Helped by 3 permanent workers, he is able to produce 5000 pieces of item every month. His products are frame leather painting, leather puppet pencil and puppetry miniature. His monthly income ranges from Rp 3 to Rp 5 millions.

Riyadi, who graduated from D2, has sold his products to Bali, Ancol, Surabaya and Yogyakarta. His products have also spread over Netherlands and Italy.
