Suatmadji, a person from PIK Gunung Sempu, Kasihan, Bantul, started his career on silver business. Watching craft business prospect in Bantul area, he was attracted to run popular craft business. With his creativity, he made craft products made of brass and copper. Apparently, they attracted consumers, so he got a lot of orders.

SMD, Suatmadji named his business. Besides producing products made of brass and copper, he also made silver products. He formerly opened his business at Gambiran Street, Yogyakarta. He then moved and opened at PIK Gunung Sempu. And, at the end 2004, the Government of Bantul Regency gave a chance to open outlet at the Art Market of Gabusan. He placed Los. 15 Kav. 13 and 15. His sort products made of brass and copper are bicycle miniature, mask and fruit place.

Helped by 20 workers, SMD can produce 10.000 pieces of item every month with its monthly earning rates of Rp 10 to Rp 15 millions. The brass and copper are taken from Yogyakarta City. The retail price for bicycle miniature is Rp 90.000, fruit place is Rp 150.000 and mask is Rp. 20.000.

SMD’s products have been spread over Bali and Yogyakarta. Besides, they have been exported to Japan. Opening showroom at the Art Market of Gabusan, Suatmadji is optimist that his products will be more sellable, moreover it is supported with strategic marketing way, that is through Internet.
